67% of drinks in coffee shops are prepared using milk – Roschaikofe
The expert explained this by the fact that two-thirds of drinks in coffee shops are somehow prepared using milk, and with 1 coffee unit, the customer consumes 1.5 units of milk.
‘I am not giving a clear expert assessment; the exact figures should be calculated. But a really visible part of the dairy market goes to the coffee products sector,’ Ramaz Chanturia said.
The expert added that dairy farmers also need to strengthen collaboration with coffee shops because according to surveys of recent years, the consumption of vegetable milk in coffee is growing rapidly. Traditional milk should defend its positions on this issue, and working with coffee shops directly can help in this.
‘We need to focus on the coffee sector, work with coffee producers, we need to look at the collaboration more closely, so as not to lose this sector. Coffee culture is very much connected with the modern format of life. The culture and fashion for coffee, the growth of the consumption of not instant, but roasted coffee, is moving into homes. These trends capture the younger generation, and can significantly affect the milk market,’ Ramaz Chanturia added.
