Absence of common technical regulations is the main problem of Customs Union dairy companies
A scheduled meeting of the expert council on agriculture at Federal Antimonopoly Service took place on 23 April. Andrei Danilenko, head of the National Dairy Producers Union (SOUZMOLOKO), spoke on dairy market issues within the CU. According to the expert, absence of common technical regulations on dairy products is the main problem of the dairy industry: this results into unfair competition on the part of Belorussian and Kazakhstani exporters when the consumers, for example, are misled by vegetable oils being put instead of animal ones. Minor fines are not enough to solve this problem. Access to the other markets for Russian companies is at the same time limited by technical barriers. That is why it is necessary to work out common technical regulations within the Customs Union.
