Alexander Bulat: prices for milk, butter and milk powder are going down
- As I predicted earlier, self-isolation led to a decrease in cheese consumption, including due to the closure of catering enterprises, the surge in sales of packaged butter and UHT milk was replaced by stagnation. Everywhere there are surpluses of raw milk, the price of which in April decreased by 1-2 rubles. The same decline will occur in May. Prices for butter and milk powder are also going down. Belarus, reacting to the fall of the ruble in March-April, raised the indicator for milk powder twice, "throwing" whole milk powder to 295 Rb/kg including VAT. However, following the market, at the end of April, it lowered the price by 30 rubles per kg.
We will remind, earlier it became known that since May 12 in Russia the single period of self-isolation comes to an end.
Despite this, restrictions on the movement of citizens and the operation of industries remain in many regions. In addition, wearing if masks has been introduced everywhere.
Alexander Bulat reminded that the most significant for the dairy industry for many years is the lack of growth in real incomes of Russians. The period of self-isolation will lead to a significant drop, he believes. Moreover, in a crisis situation, the population begins to save even more actively, despite the decline in income. This means that consumption is being squeezed even more.
- Based on the above mentioned, the main measures to support the industry are to stimulate demand. The state is taking steps to support the economy - payments to families with children, etc. - but, unfortunately, these measures are not comparable to the scale of the fall in income. Although in general, the agro-industrial complex is likely to show good results, against the background of other industries, the agricultural industry will definitely be in the lead at the end of the year", said Alexander Bulat.
