Alexander Shirinkin: the increase in selling prices for dairy products is associated with rising prices for raw materials and currency volatility
He noted that Tula dairy plant supplies products to all major retail chains located in geographical accessibility for delivery of the company's products. These are Globus, Zelgros, Auchan, Liniya, Verny, Spar, X5, Tander and others.
The expert noted that the company faced the fact that one of the retailers did not agree on a price increase, which amounted to 2% -3% for a dozen and a half articles. But all the other retail chains agreed on the procedure.
- We initiated a small price increase about a month and a half ago, and only one retal chain notified only a day before the date of the disagreement. We were forced to suspend the procedure, - said Alexander Shirinkin.
According to the expert, the reason for the increase in selling prices is the increase in the cost of raw milk and the exchange rate difference, which affects the increase in the cost of packaging materials, starter cultures, and ingredients. In addition, the need to comply with legal requirements related to wage inflation also affects all items of economic expenses of the enterprise. It is impossible to block the price increases that enter the enterprise at the expense of internal resources.
Such factors will have a significant impact on the economy of enterprises. And some retail chains are also increasing their requirements for manufacturers and suppliers. It is difficult to say how enterprises will build the economy under these conditions, concluded Alexander Shirinkin.
Earlier, the Association of retail companies announced its intention to restrain price growth until the New Year.
The Ministry of industry and trade later stated that retail cannot and should not influence the prices that the market forms.
