Alexander Tkachev: we will increase milk production by 500 thousand tons per year

The Head of the Ministry of agriculture Alexander Tkachev during the meeting of the final Board of the Ministry stressed that in 5-7 years it is planned to liquidate the deficit of raw milk in the country. "We refuse to import products in favor of domestic production", said Tkachev, quoted by The DairyNews.
"Even such a complex industry reached an increase of 1% in 2017. It is small, but it is only the beginning. This is an advantage, and we hope that we will add 500 thousand tons of milk annually. And we will liquidate the present deficit of about 5-6 million tons in 5-7 years", the Minister said.
The official stressed that over the past 4 years, support for farmers has increased by 14%.
"We will continue to support farmers and focus our attention on agricultural cooperatives", Tkachev said.
"Our growth points are dairy and beef cattle breeding, plant growing, vegetable growing, the development of science and agricultural machinery", said the Head of the Ministry of agriculture.
