Alexey Bogdanov: Belarus plans to produce 9.2 million tons of milk by 2020

According to the forecast in 2017 the Republic of Belarus will produce 7.3 million tons of raw milk, by 2.8% more than in 2016. By 2020 it is planned to produce 9.2 million tons of milk. This was announced by the Head of the main Department of foreign economic activity of the Ministry of agriculture and food of Belarus Alexey Bogdanov at a round table in the framework of the exhibition "Golden Autumn", reports The DairyNews.
According to experts, the production of milk per capita in Belarus is752 kg, the indicator is higher only in the Netherlands. The level of milk consumption per capita in the Republic of Belarus is 251 kg.
According to UN Comrade the Republic of Belarus is in the TOP 5 largest exporters of dairy products.
In 2016 the exports of dairy products from Belarus amounted to $ 1.8 billion, in 2017 the export of dairy products from Belarus will grow by 190 thousand tons in terms of milk, which will increase foreign exchange earnings by 5% to $ 2 billion.
According to Alexey Bogdanov, the geography of deliveries from Belarus is focused on the EEU countries. This is explained by high prices for dairy products in the EEU and the demand in dairy products. In 2016 export deliveries from Belarus to the EEU amounted to 98.4%, by 0.5% lower than in 2015, the share of Russia decreased by 5% to 91.4%.
By 2020 Belarus plans to increase export of dairy products 1.4 times, in particular whole milk powder - 230%. Such plans require the diversification of export flows, said Bogdanov.
"The Republic of Belarus is actively diversifying the supply of dairy products; the export of dairy products to China and to Georgia can be called a breakthrough of 2017. In 2016 Belarus supplied dairy products to China for $ 1 million, in January-August this year the exports rose by 19.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2016 to $ 4.1 million. The exports of dairy products to Georgia has increased by 7.2% to $5.6 million, at the same time a range of dairy products supplied to Georgia is very wide", - said Alexey Bogdanov.
