Import of milk and dairy products from third countries to the territory of the EAEU member states increased by 31% in 2017 compared to 2016, but remained 77% lower compared to 2013. This was stated by Alexey Bogdanov, the Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of agriculture and food of Belarus during his speech at the VI Summer Dairy summit, reports The DairyNews from the X Dairy Olympics.
- The value of import of dairy products from third countries to the EAEU amounted to $633 million in 2017, - said Alexey Bogdanov.
"It would be fair to sell own agricultural products on the domestic market of the EAEU first. And only then to import the missing volumes", - said the official, talking about the significant impact of WTO tariffs.
In addition, a number of other factors affect the efficiency of the dairy industry of the Union member States.
The expert also cited data on the import of palm oil to the territory of the EAEU countries.
- In 2017 the import of palm oil from third countries to the EAEU increased by 10% and amounted to $729 million, while 96.2% of supplies accounted for Russia, 2.8% - for the Republic of Kazakhstan, 0.5% - for Belarus, - the official said.
Import of cheese-like products (CN FEA codes of the EAEU 190190, 210690) from third countries to the EAEU decreased in 2017 to the indicator of 2013 by 29%. However, compared to the 2016 it rose by 28% to $979 million. The share of Russian in the import of cheese-like products is the biggest of all the members of the Union and amounts to 67.3%, it was reduced in comparison with the year 2016.
On the contrary, the share of Belarus increased to 20.9% from 18.8%. The share of Kazakhstan has not changed and amounted to 10.2%. The share of Kyrgyzstan and Armenia is 0.8% in each country.
