Alexey Firsov: a class of consumerists has been formed in Russia

This opinion was presented by the General Director of the center for social design "Platform" Alexey Firsov in the framework of the multimedia round table "Results of the study of the interaction between Federal retail and regional business", reports The DairyNews.
The speaker stressed that the class of consumerists appreciates the comfort of consumption even with a reduction in income. If earlier the market could be called the market of the supplier, and later the market of the retailer, now it has become a market of the consumer. Consumption has become a form of social activity and personal freedom, the buyer is looking for convenient stores, discounts, applications. At the same time, the price factor remains important, but it is not the main one.
Answering the question how local business and Federal networks interact, Firsov highlighted the positive and negative aspects.
- There is an increase in the standards of social life, local networks are becoming more motivated to changes, social stability is being strengthened; employment and the development of related businesses are growing. But along with this, local shops, to which the population is accustomed, are closed, products from other regions displace goods of local production, the quality of products is reduced against the background of increase in prices, – the speaker said in his report.
The expert called the low purchasing power of the population, high taxes, difficulties with lending, the lack of producers ' own sales channels, the unwillingness to improve marketing efficiency and develop production standards the main barriers to the development of local production. Two key groups of factors - a complex macroeconomic background and toughening of competition - are a serious challenge for each individual enterprise in the regions.
About 70% of the survey participants highly appreciated the quality of local products. But in personal interviews, experts speak critically. It is paradoxical that in each region own products are thought to be of good quality, the networks sell 80-90% of products of the local manufacturers, but many say that overall the quality of the products decreases.
More than half of the respondents believe that local networks in their current form will not stand the competition with the Federal ones; the situation is aggravated by the ongoing decline in effective demand.
