Alexey Martynenko: production of Adygea cheese cannot be restricted geographically
We will remind, earlier it became known that on June 30 the arbitration court of Bryansk region supported the right to use the brand "Adygea Cheese" only for production in the Republic of Adygea. Previously, this right was recognized by the Supreme court of the Russian Federation.
CJSC "Umalat" tried to challenge the decision of the Supreme court for two years.
"We tried to do everything possible to make our colleagues understand that the production of Adygea cheese cannot be limited by the territorial border. In my opinion, the court's decision will not add value to Adygea cheese, since the technology and quality control are far from what we see in such cheeses with a protected name as Parmigiano Reggiano or Mozzarella de Buffalo Campana. But Russia has chosen its own path in cheese production. I don't see any value in the name, we see how the cheese variety was privatized, and this is wrong", said Alexey Martynenko.
We will remind, the subject of the trial was the illegal use of the name "Adygea Cheese", which was produced outside the Republic. The products were falsified.
In 2018, the court refused to protect the rights of manufacturers with the name of the place of origin of the product, and the trial continued for another year. As a result, the Arbitration court of Bryansk region satisfied the claims of the copyright holders.
