Altai region can set a new cheese record

In 2016, the manufacture of cheese and cheese products in Altai region can amount to 85 thousand tons, it is 1.5 thousand tons more than a year earlier.
It was announced by Vice-Governor of Altai region Alexander Lukyanov on October 25. The sharp jump in this production occurred in 2015, when they started to produce cheese and cheese products in Altai by 16% more.
According to Alexander Lukyanov, to ensure the necessary volume of milk supplied for processing, enterprises in the course of the year purchased raw material in Novosibirsk and Omsk regions. The volume of purchased milk outside the region can reach 125-150 thousand tons, as in previous years. In addition, in 2016, the share of milk purchased in the private sector from the residents of the region increased.
As it was noted by the Vice-Governor, today, cheese-making enterprises of the region have no problems with sales. Inventory of cheese range from 0,7 to 1.1 thousand tons. Compared to previous years, when stocks reached 9 thousand tons, it is not a significant figure.
Alexander Lukyanov, Vice-Governor of Altai region:
"I would say: indeed, with the introduction of these sanctions our companies have the opportunity to work successfully and gain some momentum. The ban on the import of products from the USA and Europe definitely helped us".
