Amur Region farmers should use proximity to China for export

The Amur Region farmers should use its unique geographic location and export agricultural products to China, said RF Minister of Agriculture Aleksander Tkachyov at All-Russian Soybean Day.
Russia should provide itself with food by 2030 and start exporting, and the Amur Region has a unique chance to gain from it, the minister added.
In 2015 export of agricultural products to China reached 248.7 thousand tons; the structure of export to Asia-Pacific Region mainly consists of soybeans (84%), corn, grains, including wheat, barley and oat. In 2015 export of soybeans from the Amur Region to China totaled 209.6 thousand tons (21.1 thousand tons in 2014); export of corn reached 25.4 thousand tons, butter – 9.25 thousand tons. In 2015 Russia started export of honey, ice-cream, confectionery and bread. It is also planned to start supplies of dairy products and vegetables.
