An operating dairy plant in Omsk Region is listed for sale at 30 mln rubles
An operating dairy plant in Omsk Region, Syrodel, ZAO, is listed for sale at 30 mln rubles. The plant’s co-founder Artak Antonyan explains the decision by an intention to leave agricultural industry and to concentrate on construction business. Market participants have doubts regarding potential investors due to the high cost of the site and tough completion on the market.
The site is able to process up to 180 tons of raw milk per day. The plant produces hard cheese, butter, curd, milk, sour cream, fermented baked milk, sausage processed cheese.
In 2006 the plant’s property passed into the ownership of Sberbank because of debts, in 2008 it was bought back by ArtakAntonyan, co-owner of the local company Sibproekt. According to Mr. Antonyan, investment into the enterprise modernization totaled 12 mln rubles. At the moment only 20% of the plant’s capacities are operating. Local government believes the plant will find an investor as it has a good reputation. Some market experts consider it unprofitable to invest into cheese making business as competition from Belorussia and Ukraine is very high at the moment: producers from these countries have a more advantageous position. Investments into cheese making in Russia are unlikely to be repaid.
