Anatoly Nikiforov, General Director of Agricultural production cooperative "Kilachevsky", shared his experience in the electronic veterinary certification system "Mercury" with The DairyNews. According to him, the system did not reduce the number of falsified products in the dairy market, but only added excessive reporting to industry participants.

"We have been working in “Mercury” since last year, from us information is transmitted every day. "Mercury" was positioned as a tool to combat falsification. Meanwhile, the number of surrogates on dairy shelves has not decreased yet, and we have to keep reporting constantly. There is no real result", stressed Anatoly Nikiforov.

At the same time, the agricultural producer noted that the introduction of "Mercury" did not affect the cost of raw milk. According to the expert, milk processors directly dictate the price of raw milk, and producers need to look for the most favorable conditions for cooperation.

We will remind the system "Mercury" began to work in Russia in July last year. Since July 1, 2019, it became mandatory to issue veterinary certificates for powdered dairy products, butter, cheese, condensed milk, etc.

Since November 1, milk, kefir, yogurt, cream, ice cream, cheese and cottage cheese will fall under the "Mercury" without restrictions.
