This opinion was expressed by co-owner of the company "Foodland" Andrey Dakhnovich during the meeting of the "Club of cheese producers" at the exhibition "Dairy and Meat industry - 2018," reports The DairyNews.
"Competition on the cheese market will grow and it will be difficult to make money", - says Andrey Dakhnovich, mentioning that today there is a crisis of overproduction on the market.
According to the expert, the possibility of normalizing the situation may result in a decrease of prices for raw materials. It can also provoke an increase in consumption.
"We hope for that very much. It is important to have a civilized market. Now there are a lot of falsified products on the shelves. In most cases, people buy a cheaper product, which is not cheese", - said Dakhnovich, emphasizing that the situation with consumption may change if the market is ordered so that the buyer could see where there is a cheap cheese product, and where the true cheese is.
According to the expert, only the export of processed cheeses is possible, as for cheeses of long maturation and fresh – only in small amount.
"Perhaps, it will be possible to count on the Chinese market, but here it is necessary to have certain capacities in the Far East. Well, in Europe nobody needs us", - said the co-owner of "Foodland".
Also, according to Dakhnovich, there are no clearly expressed trends of consolidation in the cheese industry observed.
"The consolidation process should assume the profitability of the deal both for the seller and the buyer. On heavy market it is possible due to a bankruptcy, but I don't think that this will be a trend," said Dakhnovich.
