Antonina Zherebtsova: The agricultural firm Tuksa will be taken over by the breeding plant Ilinskoye
‘We are already preparing a new modern premises on the basis of the breeding plant Ilinskoe, but after joining, we are planning, of course, the construction of a new complex. For example, due to the site in Tuksa, our livestock will increase by about 800 cows. Formally, the accession has not yet been completed, the appropriate legal registration is necessary, but the decision on this issue has already been made and approved by the leadership of the Republic of Karelia,’ Antonina Zherebtsova noted.
Nevertheless, according to the head of the breeding plant, the process will entail additional financial costs:
‘We are engaged in the modernization of technical equipment, of course, federal and regional support helps here. For example, we have already purchased a new forage harvesting equipment. However, the new site is almost 4,000 hectares of land, which means that additional equipment for soil treatment and land reclamation will be needed — after the expansion, it will be necessary to increase the work on forage harvesting.’
The director of the breeding plant Ilinskoe told why special attention is paid to sown areas and how the enterprise solves the problem of limited soil resources suitable for obtaining forages:
‘Due to the specifics of the region, we cannot grow grain in the volumes in which it is available to our colleagues from other regions. Therefore, the diet that we use for our cows is the result of the experience that we have developed from year to year, verifying the composition, adjusting the portions. We have found a way out: we pay more attention to perennial grasses rich in sugars, so that our animals receive full nutrition. Early grass varieties are of use.’
Antonina Zherebtsova noted that the increase in purchase prices for raw milk can contribute to more intensive development:
‘We have no problems with the implementation, but we would like the price of milk to be higher. Now feed, machinery, and construction materials have significantly increased in price. If we could deliver milk at a higher price, our development would go faster, of course.’
Earlier, the head of the breeding plant told the participants of the Motor Rally "Way for milk!" that the company annually sells 120-130 heifers, and a total of 1550 dairy cows are kept at three sites.
