Artem Belov: Russian dairy sector has a potential in the global market

The dairy sector has a high potential not only in domestic but also in the global market, said the Executive Director of Soyuzmoloko Artem Belov in his speech at the conference "Dairy industry - the steps of development after embargo", held today in the framework of the World Food-2017, reports The DairyNews.
"In 2016, Russia took the 5th place in the world in terms of milk production. The share of the Russian Federation is 6.2% of world production of cow's milk. In addition, Russia is the third country in the world in terms of cheese production, the fifth - in terms of production of butter, the tenth - by production of skimmed milk powder," cited data Artem Belov.
According to the expert, the growth of exports for the period from 2012 to 2016 amounted to 19%. Export growth in the country outside the CIS reached 38% during the same period. Export to China increased 42 times.
"In the first half of 2017 China increased its imports of key dairy products. In the medium term the growth in imports of China will continue", - said Artem Belov.
