Artem Belov: Soyuzmoloko is still convinced that the dairy market does not need mandatory labeling
Soyuzmoloko is still convinced that it is necessary to abandon the introduction of mandatory labeling of dairy products. The introduction of a labeling system is impractical, taking into account the already working system of traceability (EVC) and an extremely small (less than 0.01%) share of falsified products, - said Artem Belov.
The press service of Soyuzmoloko noted that according to the results of the test application of codes at the enterprises, it was not possible to choose the optimal application options and types of equipment for any type of packaging. All production lines of the surveyed enterprises need to be reequipped. Some solutions lead to a significant slowdown of lines (up to 50%), which will negatively affect the performance of the entire industry. This threatens the stability of domestic dairy product supplies and will lead to an increase in imports.
The manufacturers of packaging warn that the need for investment and slower printing speeds will also increase the cost of packaging solutions. In addition, logistics operations, storage and accounting of labeled products have not been tested until now.
On average it takes from about 4 million rubles to 10 million rubles to equip a single production line. At the same time, equipment suppliers do not guarantee 100% code readability, and some products (in some cases, their share reaches 85%) must be written off – and this is an additional loss for business. According to the calculations of the Union, the costs in the first year will amount to at least 61.3 billion rubles. Additional labeling costs will reduce the availability of high-quality dairy products and increase the cost of production by at least 3-4%.
Soyuzmoloko reminded that in the current economic conditions, the industry does not need an additional and unnecessary burden.
