Belarus and Russia plan to create joint breeding and genetic centers

The Minister said that the establishment of a joint breeding and genetic centers was discussed at the meeting in St. Petersburg on April 3. This work will be carried out in order to reduce the import of breeding products.

"In European countries there is a very serious problem on the epidemic situation there is avian influenza, African swine fever, bluetongue and other diseases. It is unsafe for our state, so we need to preserve the achievements in the livestock sector", - he stressed.

Breeding and genetic centers can be established on the basis of the scientific enterprises of the two countries. It is planned that there will be the centers in such areas as dairy cattle breeding, pig breeding and broiler production.

"We need to preserve the genetic potential", - noted Leonid Zayats.

According to the Minister, this issue will be considered at the meeting of the Supreme State Council, which will be held soon in Russia.
