Belarus is working to reduce the use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine – Ministry of agriculture and food

"We carry out intensive work to reduce the use of antibiotics, to reduce them to the minimum, so we will control our production more clearly and more carefully ", - said Alexander Subbotin.

According to him, if the Russian colleagues require the absence of even minimally acceptable concentrations in products, "we, as manufacturers and suppliers, will strive for this".

The Deputy Head of the Ministry of agriculture stressed that Belarus is working in this direction for more than one year. In this regard, he reminded that according to the veterinarian rule 16, adopted in 2011, the number of veterinary drugs is prohibited for use in the Republic for the treatment of productive animals. "Some of them are allowed on the territory of the European Union and Russia", - noted the Deputy Minister.

For those drugs that are approved for use, he continued, there was set maximum allowable concentration, "which in no way affect the health of man." Cows that are treated with antibiotics, are isolated from the herd, their milk is not used for food production, said Alexander Subbotin.

Commenting on the recent detection of antibiotics by the Russian side, the representative of the Ministry of agriculture stated that it was about the milk powder, although adopted the world methods and standards are established for raw milk. But even by these standards, said Alexander Subbotin, in most of the cases, mentioned by the Rosselkhoznadzor, Belarusian milk powder fit into the security targets.

"I will keep on saying that our products are of high quality, and it is recognized by all countries to which the products come. We guarantee our quality", - concluded the Deputy Head of the Belarusian Ministry.
