Belorussian suppliers approached the boarders of the Russian consumers’ demand
Russian consumers’ demand decrease doesn’t allow Belorussian suppliers to increase dairy products export to Russia endlessly. “We do not compete with Russian producers, we fill the gap which appeared as a result of sanctions”, - said the head of the Foreign Economic Affairs Department at the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Aleksey Bagdanov. He added that when the country doesn’t receive the full currency returns in dollar terms it becomes difficult to exist for Belorussian economy.
According to Mr. Bagdanov information, Russia consumes around 800 thousand tons of cheese per year. Half of the demand is covered by Russian producers. Belorussia traditionally exported to Russia around 100 thousand of cheese per year, the remaining 300 thousand tons were imported from third countries.
Both Russian and Belorussian producers are facing consumer demand decrease, according to Tatiana Rybalova, Russian dairy market analyst. There is an opinion that Belorussia can export dairy products to Russia endlessly. In fact the market has its boarders, the consumer demand has decreased, she said.
