The Belarusian and Russian sides have almost completely agreed on the Forecast balances of demand and supply of the Union state for meat and dairy products for the current year, reported Head of the Main Department of foreign economic activity of the Ministry of agriculture and food of Belarus Alexey Bogdanov to Sputnik.
Union balances
According to him, on Friday regular negotiations between the agricultural departments of the two countries took place in the format of a videoconference, where the issues of coordinating the volume of deliveries of Belarusian dairy products were worked out in detail.
"We have finally agreed on the balance of supply of such goods as whole milk powder, butter, cheese, concentrated milk and whole-milk products", Bogdanov said. At the same time, he added that the coordination of supplies for sensitive items such as skimmed milk powder and whey is yet to be agreed.
"We have reached a high level of readiness of the Forecast balances of the Union state for milk and meat, and the Belarusian side hopes for a final agreement on the balances during the visit of the Russian delegation to Minsk, which is expected after the May holidays", the representative of the Belarusian Ministry stated.
Palm oil
Bogdanov also noted that Belarusian specialists will continue consultations with their colleagues from Russia to determine joint approaches to control imports of palm oil to the common market. The position of Belarus is that it is necessary to control the supply of dairy products from third countries, and the import of palm oil and cheese-like products should be supervised by the veterinary service. According to the Belarusian expert, it is necessary to amend the technical regulations on milk, which will ensure the proper quality of products and limit the use of palm oil.
In addition, he stressed that Belarus is in the TOP 5 leading countries in the export of dairy products and the quality of Belarusian milk is not criticized by any of the 46 importing countries.
"It is at least incorrect to talk about any problems with the quality of Belarusian dairy products today. The wide geography of exports and the absence of complaints on quality and safety once again confirm the high standards of production and veterinary control in Belarus", Bogdanov said.
He also stressed that today the issue of creating a single trader company, which will carry out deliveries of Belarusian dairy products to Russia, is being discussed.
"This is a difficult issue and it is necessary to approach it carefully, taking into account the antimonopoly legislation", the representative of the Ministry of agriculture and food summarized.
