By 2024 the volume of milk production in Russia is planned to increase to 33.6 million tons, writes The DairyNews, citing the press service of the Ministry of agriculture.
In the framework of the business program of the exhibition "Golden autumn-2018", First Deputy Minister of agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Khatuov held a round table "Dairy cattle breeding: achievements, problems, vectors of further development". Participants of the event discussed the development of the dairy industry and identified key points of growth.
According to Dzhambulat Khatuov, the use of existing reserves – primarily due to the intensification of the use of highly effective technologies, improvement of herd management system, more complete use of the genetic potential of dairy cattle - with the existing mechanisms of state support will allow to increase the volume of milk production to 33.6 million tons by 2024 compared to 31.2 million tons by the end of 2017. For this purpose it is necessary to increase milk productivity of cows at agricultural enterprises on the average across Russia to 7100 kg.
"Currently, there is a positive trend in the industry - we set a goal to increase the annual production of milk per animal from 400 to 550 tons. The main role here is, of course, the increase in productivity and the development of genetic potential. Today we have suspended the decline in the number of cattle, and since 2019 we expect the growth of this indicator", – said Dzhambulat Khatuov.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the dynamics of prices for milk and dairy products. This year in a number of regions the cost of raw milk decreased by 7-8 rubles per 1 kg, which had a negative impact on the financial condition of producers. The Ministry of agriculture of Russia has taken all possible measures to stabilize the situation, including revised milk balances with the Republic of Belarus.
