By 2030, milk consumption in cities of China according to the forecast will reach 46.2 kg per capita. If the index reaches this figure, there will be a problem of providing industry with raw milk, said Hal Chin, development Manager of international business Beijing Orient Dairy Consultant.Ltd, speaking at the conference "Exporters of the future in the global dairy market", held in Hanover and organized by the Russian Dairy Research Center.
To date, the expert said, China remains the largest importer of dairy products in the world, in 2014, its share of dairy imports the world's accounted for 19.2% and in 2015 - 15,1%. Most of all China imports milk powder - 41% of the total volume of imports is accounted for this product, milk whey is 32.5%. For 8 months of 2016, China imported 480 thousand tons of milk powder (+14,2% compared to the corresponding period in 2015).
While the imported drinking milk is 1.8% of the whole market of drinking milk in China and 3% of UHT segment. Most of drinking milk in China comes from Germany, 35% of the total import segment, according to The DairyNews.
China remains the largest market, capacious from the point of view of the consumption of milk. The consumption of milk per capita is growing in the cities of the country: in 2012 - 17.9 kg, in 2020 - 42.9 kg, in 2030 - 46,2 kg. If the index reaches this figure, there will be a problem of providing industry with raw milk. There are serious doubts that China will be able to meet the growing demand through domestic production," said Hal Chin.
