The expert reminded that in 2019, milk production in Russia increased by 1.3%, which did not exceed the results of previous years.
According to the Director of DIA, the dairy industry is already going through a series of changes and shocks and this is just the beginning.
‘Previously, changes occurred once in several generations, but today huge shocks occur in a matter of weeks,’ the expert said.
According to the Director of DIA, the growth of national producers of milk and dairy products is increasing in Russia. At the same time, small and medium-sized producers began to develop most actively.
‘By 2030, the market picture may change significantly. Those who are currently ranked third and fourth in the milk processing rating will lead the rating in the future. In addition, regional players have returned to the market. Those who have not participated in changes in production for 5 years, again show their competitiveness,’ Mikhail Mishchenko said.
According to the analyst, today the country still has a problem of misunderstanding of consumer demand by manufacturing companies.
‘Focus on the older generation of consumers is no longer working, as the low purchasing power of buyers in this category affects the demand for milk. The younger generation, on the contrary, increases the demand for dairy products, but young people consume dairy products not in the form that manufacturers offer. They use it in coffee or pizza. Today, milk for the population is cheesecakes or cappuccino. And in my opinion, by 2030, the dairy industry will turn into an industry that produces ingredients,’ summed up Mikhail Mishchenko.
