By the end of the year, milk production in the world will grow by 1.5% - FAO
According to the forecasts of FAO experts, world milk production will reach 928 million tons. Growth will occur in all major producer countries, and mostly in Asia and North America as noted in the organization.
In addition, the expansion of world trade in dairy products is predicted - this will be due to the recovery of the economy after the disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. In recent months, an increase in domestic production and sluggish consumer demand have slowed the growth rate of dairy imports.
The document also predicts a moderate increase in milk production in Europe due to an increase in milk yields and favorable weather conditions in the spring, which will improve the condition of pastures and restrain the growth of feed costs. Also, a slight increase in milk production is expected in the countries of Central America and the Caribbean - there it will happen at the expense of industrial farms.
