CATD will invest 70 billion rubles in the labeling project over five years

The total investment volume will be about 250 billion rubles (for 15 years – the PPP agreement is calculated for this period). This was stated by Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CATD Mikhail Dubin, quoted by the company's press service.

The CATD is the operator of the labeling system in Russia. This is a joint project of USM by Alisher Usmanov (USM Technologies, 50%), Rostech Group (Automatika Concern, 25%) and Elvis-Plus Group by Alexander Galitsky (25%). The revenue part of the PPP financial model is formed by charging a fee for the formation of a labeling code and a tracking service – 50 kopecks per code (excluding VAT).

Earlier it was reported that the total investment in the project will amount to about 220 billion rubles.

‘Over the first five years of the labeling project, the CATD will invest about 70 billion rubles in the labeling project; the total investment will be about 250 billion rubles. It is not just money that is spent on conditional data centers or computers. This is a combination of a variety of costs. Of course, this is also a system that is constantly being scaled. He reminded that at the same time, the CATD "does a number of things" for free. ‘For example, we do not charge a fee for providing labeling codes for medicines cheaper than 20 rubles included in the list of vital and essential drugs. In addition, at our own expense, we have purchased and equipped all medical institutions in Russia with registrars of the disposal of medicines,’ he said.

Currently, the Russian Federation has mandatory digital labeling of cigarettes, medicines, shoes, perfumes and toilet water, cameras and flash lamps, tires, some light industry goods and some categories of dairy products. By 2024, the system should cover a wide range of consumer goods.

In 2020, the revenue of LLC Operator-CATD according to RAS amounted to 7.1 billion rubles against 2.7 billion rubles in 2019. In particular, the proceeds from the labeling of tobacco products accounted for 5.6 billion rubles. The company's net profit amounted to 126.3 million rubles after a loss of 219.4 million rubles a year earlier.
