China has allowed the supply of powdered dairy products from Russia
It is noted that in the next two months, the General customs administration of the People’s Republic of China will consider including other companies in the list of accredited enterprises. According to AgroExport, 37 Russian companies are interested in supplying powdered dairy products to China. Earlier it was reported about 12 such companies.
The AgroExport center believes that in the coming years, the largest segment for Russian exporters of dairy products in the Chinese market will be the supply of whey powder.
In 2019, China imported dairy products worth $ 5.9 billion, including whey worth $ 607 million. In 2020-2024, consumption of whey powder in China is expected to grow by 2.5% per year, while imports will grow at a faster pace – by 2.7% per year. Imports of milk powder will increase by 6% annually, while consumption will increase by 3.3% per year.
- In the future, there will be an increase in exports of more marginal finished products due to the use of the formed sales infrastructure and established distribution. In 2019, the volume of consumption of dairy products in China reached almost $ 63 billion, in 2024 it should increase to 84 billion dollars, - commented in AgroExport.
- I have always said that China's decision to allow exports does not mean that we can supply products there. In addition to deciding on deliveries, we need to deal with logistics problems, and customs duties are also an important point. We will not be able to compete on price with New Zealand, which has a free trade agreement with China. If these problems are resolved, the most promising product for delivery is whey. Already today, the market has formed its surplus, - said the Director of the Dairy Intelligence Agency (DIA) Mikhail Mishchenko.
