Chinese imports of dairy products for 8 months of 2021 exceeded the entire volume of imports in 2020 – Maxim Fasteev

‘The information about the decline in the pace of Chinese imports is not yet confirmed by trade statistics, at least in the dairy sector. According to statistics, in August, the total volume of imports of dairy products in powdered dairy products increased by 32% compared to August last year, as a result of which the volume of imports since the beginning of the year to the present exceeded the total volume of 2020,’ the expert wrote. 

According to him, all products, with the exception of infant formula, showed a significant increase compared to the previous month. The import of whole milk powder was a record for August and amounted to 74 thousand tons, which is 147% more than in August 2020 (+42% since the beginning of the year to 2020). Imports of skimmed milk powder increased by 23% compared to last year (also +42% since the beginning of the year), whey products - by 12% (+33% since the beginning of the year), and cheese imports - by 50% (+45% since the beginning of the year).
