CU technical regulations on milk and dairy products is adopted
Customs Union technical regulations on safety of milk and dairy products was enacted last week by EEC Board. First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov expressed confidence that the new regulations will come into operation from mid-2014. The final version of the document will be published in the nearest time, it is destined to follow the Union members’ national regulations.
National technical regulations on milk and dairy products acts in Russia since June 2008. The document obliged producers to name reconstituted from dried milk products “milky drink”, “curdy product” and “milk containing product”. Reconstituted milk cannot be entitled “milk”. The document provoked many disputes. The newly created CU technical regulations has a term “reconstituted milk” – a compromise variant. Though the term “milk drink” will also be included into the CU technical regulations.
