Dairy Company Rusagro is not among the largest producers of Belgorod region

As previously reported by The DairyNews agency, Rusagro sells a dairy livestock complex in Belgorod region, which, according to some experts, may affect the state of the dairy industry in the region.

The agency contacted the Department of Internal Policy of Belgorod region, which reported that ‘the situation with milk production in the region will continue to remain stable and will not undergo significant changes due to the sale of dairy assets by Rusagro.’

‘Rusagro is not among the largest milk producers in the region,’ the official response of the department says. ‘In 2020, the company produced 7.1 thousand tons of milk in Belgorod region, or slightly more than 1% of the total volume of milk produced in the region. At the same time, the leading milk producers in the region for the same period produced: GC Green Valley - 104.0 thousand tons, agricultural holding Avida - 89.7 thousand tons, GC Tommoloko - 32.7 thousand tons.

According to the data of the Regional Department of Internal Policy, GC Rusagro has sold the agricultural enterprise LLC Rusagro-Milk, located in Belgorod region, to a new owner. Today, this asset is part of the enterprise LLC Rassvet-Agro.

As of October 26, the company has 1,190 cows, there are no plans to reduce the number of cows. It is planned to carry out zootechnical culling and assessing of cattle with the subsequent purchase of heifers.

According to the ministry, dairy farming is still one of the most attractive industries for investors, in particular due to affordable state support measures. After reaching the design capacity of the facilities, the construction of which was completed in 2020, the volume of milk production in the region will increase by at least 30 thousand tons.

Belgorod region is among the TOP 15 largest milk producers in Russia and ranks third in the Central Federal District. Gross milk production in the region in 2019 amounted to 683.5 thousand tons, in 2020 – 686.4 thousand tons. According to the forecast, it is planned to reach 689 thousand tons in 2021.

According to price monitoring of milk processing enterprises, the purchase price for premium milk (excluding VAT) for 2019 was at the level of 26.3 thousand rubles per ton on average, in 2020 - 27.6 thousand rubles per ton. According to statistics, as of October 20, 2021, the purchase price for premium milk amounted to 31.3 thousand rubles per ton. 

The agency also provided information about the herd of cattle in farms of all categories. Thus, on January 1, 2019, there was 93.8 thousand, on the same date in 2020 – 97.1 thousand, in 2021 – 93.6 thousand.

‘Belgorod region has the eighth in Russia and the third in the Central Federal District result in the productivity of the dairy herd,’ reported in the regional department of Belgorod region. ‘In 2019, milk yield per cow in all categories of farms was 7249 kg, in agricultural enterprises – 7820 kg. In 2020, in all categories of farms – 7409 kg, in agricultural enterprises - 8125 kg. According to the forecast, in 2021, in all categories of farms, milk yield per cow is expected at the level of 7420 kg, in the agricultural enterprises - 8200 kg.
