The UK government has announced support for the dairy sector. According to the package of measures taken, farmers will be able to compensate up to 70% of losses from the country's budget if they received less than 25% of their income in March and April, The DairyNews reports.
The number of farms that can receive support and the amount of funds allocated are not limited.
It is estimated that 3/4 of dairy farms in the country were affected because of restrictions imposed by the Government as part of the fight against the spread of the new coronavirus. According to the materials of the National farmers' Union of the country, every week the market loses about 8 million liters of raw milk due to lack of demand.
Earlier, we wrote that the unions of England called for the introduction of a system to reduce the volume of milk production in the country.
