Dairy Index DIA amounted to 26.76 rubles (about 0.38 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week increased by 0.12% to 25.24 rubles (about 0.36 euros)/kg, which is 7.8% higher than the price in December in 2018. Prices for raw milk increased in Kursk, Tver and Altai regions. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in Lipetsk, Tyumen and Belgorod regions.

The import price index decreased by 0.26% to 31.21 rubles (about 0.44 euros)/kg; compared to December 2018 the growth of the index was 8.34%. The decline of the index was caused by strengthening of the ruble. Last week at the Dutch stock exchange Trigona Dairy Trade, prices for exchange-traded dairy products remained at the level of previous trading. The price of butter, taking into account the strengthening of the ruble decreased by 0.42% to 250 rubles (about 3.57 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar decreased to 232.4 rubles (about 3.32 euros)/kg, the price of skim milk powder decreased to 186.6 rubles (about 2.67 euros)/ kg. The price of whey powder decreased to 51.4 rubles (about 0.73 euros)/kg.
The import price of a pair of skim milk powder + butter decreased by 0.16% to 36.38 rubles (about 0.52 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey decreased by 0.38% to 26.17 rubles (about 0.37 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder remained at the level of 22.95 rubles (about 0.33 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
