Dairy Index DIA has decreased by 0.04% to 27.42 rubles (about 0.31 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA, the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week amounted to 25.19 rubles (about 0.29 euros)/kg, which is 2.7% higher than the price in August in 2019. Prices for raw milk increased in Smolensk? Nizhny Novgorod and Samara regions. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in Altai and Moscow regions.

The import price index decreased by 0.09% to 33.60 rubles (about 0.38 euros)/kg, compared to August 2019 the index is higher by 5.5%. The key factor in the decline of the indicator was the decrease in prices for exchange-traded products. At the auction of BUCE the price of skimmed milk powder decreased by 1.2%, however, the price of butter increased by 0.9%. At the auction of Trigona Dairy Trade, the prices of skimmed milk powder, cheese, and whey powder decreased while the price of butter incresed. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble compared to the previous auction, increased by 5% to 301.6 rubles (about 3.43 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar decreased by 2.6% to 275.1 rubles (about 3.13 euros)/kg, the price of skimmed milk powder decreased by 2% to 183.6 rubles (about 2.09 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder decreased by 4% to 60.3 rubles (about 0.69 euros)/kg.
The 266th auction of GDT (Global Dairy Trade) of August 18, 2020 ended in a decline again. The price index for dairy products decreased by 1.7%, and prices for all key dairy products except skimmed milk powder decreased.
The import price of a pair of skimmed milk powder + butter compared to last week increased by 0.23% to 34.93 rubles (about 0.40 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey decreased by 0.37% to 32.44 rubles (about 0.37 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder decreased by 0.04% to 26.46 rubles (about 0.30 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
