Dairy Index DIA has decreased by 0.55% to 27 rubles (about 0.35 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week decreased by 0.7% to 25.39 rubles (about 0.33 euros)/kg, which is 4% higher than the price in late May in 2019. Prices for raw milk increased in Saratov region. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in Moscow, Omsk, Kaluga and Altai regions.

The import price index decreased by 8.9% to 31.19 rubles (about 0.40 euros)/kg, compared to late May 2019, the indicator is higher by 0.3%. The ruble strengthened slightly compared to last week. Prices on the Belarusian exchange-traded products decreased according to the INFAGRO Agency. At the same time, prices for butter, skimmed milk powder and whey powder increased at the Trigona Dairy Trade, while the price of cheese remained at the level of the previous auction. The price of butter, taking into account the strengthening of the ruble, increased by 5.6% to 257.34 rubles (about 3.30 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar decreased by 0.9% to 241.5 rubles (about 3.10 euros)/kg, while the price of skimmed milk powder increased by 9% to 174.2 rubles (about 2.24 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder increased by 0.4% to 61.7 rubles (about 0.79 euros)/kg.
The 260th GDT (Global Dairy Trade) auction on May 19, 2020 ended with a slight increase. The import price of a pair of skimmed milk powder + butter decreased by 17% to 29.86 rubles (about 0.38 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey decreased by 1.6% to 32.34 rubles (about 0.42 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder decreased by 14.22% to 24.19 rubles (about 0.31 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
