Dairy Index DIA has increased by 0.08% to 26.69 rubles (about 0.33 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week decreased by 0.04% to 25.21 rubles (about 0.31 euros)/kg, which is 4.2% higher than the price in July in 2019. Prices for raw milk increased in Krasnodar and Saratov regions. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in Vologda, Samara and Nizhniy Novgorod regions.

The import price index increased by 0.99% to 31.57 rubles (about 0.39 euros)/kg, compared to July, 2019 the index is higher by 0.82%. At the auction of BUCE the price of skimmed milk powder decreased by 3.1%. At the auction of Trigona Dairy Trade, the price of butter and whey powder decreased, the price of skimmed milk powder and cheese remained at the level of the previous auction. At the same time, the ruble fell again compared to previous trading. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble compared to the previous auction, decreased by 0.35% to 273.4 rubles (about 3.41 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar increased by 1.1% to 261.34 rubles (about 3.26 euros)/kg, the price of skimmed milk powder increased by 1.1% to 172.9 rubles (about 2.16 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder increased by 0.44% to 58.7 rubles (about 0.73 euros)/kg.
Last week, at the Global Dairy Trade (GDT) the price index for dairy products rose by 8.3%, the price of whole milk powder increased by 14%, and in Russian currency the price of whole milk powder was 228.8 rubles (about 2.86 euros)/kg.
DIA analysts updated import indicators according to the FCS data for May 2020, the volume of imports increased, but the share of import price in the formula for calculating the index decreased due to an increase in milk production. The share of the most expensive pair of exchange-traded products at the moment, cheese + whey has increased, the share of a pair of skimmed milk powder + butter decreased, which also led to an increase in the price of imports.
The import price of a pair of skimmed milk powder + butter increased by 0.46% to 30.72 rubles (about 0.38 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey increased by 0.78% to 32.19 rubles (about 0.40 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder increased by 0.16% to 24.37 rubles (about 0.30 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
