Dairy Index DIA has increased by 0.18% to 27.44 rubles (about 0.34 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week decreased by 0.16% to 25.73 rubles (about 0.32 euros)/kg, which is 5.15% higher than the price in late April in 2019. Prices for raw milk increased in Altai and Stavropol regions. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in Krasnodar, Tomsk and Moscow regions.

The import price index increased by 0.92% to 31.72 rubles (about 0.39 euros)/kg; compared to the end of April 2019, the indicator increased by 6.7%. The key growth factor was the weakening of the ruble. At the Trigon Dairy Trade, the price of cheddar declined, while prices for other dairy products remained at the level of previous auction. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble in comparison with the previous auction, increased by 3% to 230.13 rubles (about 2.85 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar increased by 1.3% to 255.23 rubles (about 3.16 euros)/kg, the price of skimmed milk powder increased by 3% to 163.18 rubles (about 2.02 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder increased to 60.25 rubles (about 0.75 euros)/kg.
The 258th auction of GDT (Global Dairy Trade) on April 21, 2020 ended in a decline. The price index for dairy products decreased by 4.2%, prices for milk fat and milk powder fell. The price of whole milk powder in Russian currency decreased by 6.2% to 202 rubles (about 2.50 euros)/kg.
The import price of a pair of skim milk powder + butter increased by 0.72% to 34.94 rubles (about 0.43 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey increased by 1.2% to 28.53 rubles (about 0.35 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder decreased by 3.8% to 25.73 rubles (about 0.32 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
