Dairy Index DIA has increased by 0.6% to 26.90 rubles (about 0.32 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA, the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week remained at the level of 25.13 rubles (about 0.30 euros)/kg, which is 3.5% higher than the price in late July in 2019. Prices for raw milk increased in Tyumen and Saratov regions. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Nizhniy Novgorod and Voronezh regions.

The import price index increased by 2.12% to 32.74 rubles (about 0.39 euros)/kg, compared to late July, 2019 the index is higher by 5.4%. The key factor in the growth of the indicator was the increase in prices for exchange-traded products, as well as the weakening of the ruble. At the auction of BUCE the price of skimmed milk powder increased by 13%, the price of butter also increased by 0.8%. At the auction of Trigona Dairy Trade, the price of butter and whey powder decreased, the price of cheese and skimmed milk powder remained at the level of the previous auction, at the same time, the ruble fell again compared to the previous auction. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble compared to the previous auction, decreased by 1,8% to 271.22 rubles (about 3.24 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar increased by 1.2% to 267.11 rubles (about 3.19 euros)/kg, the price of skimmed milk powder increased to 176.6 rubles (about 2.11 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder decreased by 0.2% to 59 rubles (about 0.70 euros)/kg.
The 264th GDT (Global Dairy Trade) auction on July 21, 2020 ended with a moderate decline, in contrast to the sharp jump in prices on July 7, 2020. The price index for dairy products decreased by 0.7%, the price of whole milk powder continued to grow, cheddar also showed growth, and other items showed a decrease. In Russian currency, the price of whole milk powder increased to 231.58 rubles (about 2.76 euros)/kg.
The import price of a pair of skimmed milk powder + butter compared to last week increased by 5% to 33.46 rubles (about 0.40 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey increased by 0.12% to 32.27 rubles (about 0.39 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder remained at the level of 24.37 rubles (about 0.29 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
