Dairy Index DIA has increased to 26.75 rubles (about 0.38 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week increased by 0.48% to 25.21 rubles (about 0.36 euros)/kg, which is 8.1% higher than the price in December in 2018. Prices for raw milk increased in Altai, Bryansk and Kostroma regions. The decline in prices for raw milk was observed in Vologda and Kurgan regions.

The import price index increased by 2.05% to 31.29 rubles (about 0.44 euros)/kg compared to December 2018; the growth of the index was 8.34%. The growth of the index was caused by higher prices for exchange-traded products and the weakening of the ruble. Last week at the Dutch stock exchange Trigona Dairy Trade, the prices for skim milk powder and cheese increased; the prices for butter and whey powder decreased. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble decreased by 2.5% to 251 rubles (about 3.56 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar increased by 4.9% to 233.4 rubles (about 3.31 euros)/kg, the price of skim milk powder increased by 2%to 187.4 rubles (about 2.66 euros)/ kg. The price of whey powder decreased by 1.1% to 51.6 rubles (about 0.73 euros)/kg.
At the 249th auction of the Global Dairy Trade on December 3, 2019, the price index for dairy products fell by 0.5%. At the auction, the prices of butter and dehydrated milk fat continued to decline.
The import price of a pair of skim milk powder + butter increased by 0.44% to 36.44 rubles (about 0.52 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey increased by 4.4% to 26.27 rubles (about 0.37 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder remained at the level of 22.95 rubles (about 0.33 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
