Dairy Index DIA rose to 25.59 rubles (about 0.35 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week increased by 0.3% to 24.31 rubles (about 0.33 euros)/kg, which is 14% higher than the price in August in 2018. The rise in prices for raw milk was observed in Samara and Ulyanovsk regions, in the Republic of Tatarstan. Prices for raw milk decreased in Krasnoyarsk region, Moscow region and Altai region.

The import price index increased by 0.17% compared to last week to 28.92 rubles (about 0.39 euros)/kg, compared to August 2018, the growth of the index was 2%. The increase in import prices was caused by the weakening of the ruble and the increase in prices for dairy products at the auction of Trigona Dairy Trade; at the auction the price of skim milk powder and butter has risen, the price of cheese and whey powder went down. The price of butter taking into consideration the weakening of the ruble increased by 2% to 242.4 rubles (about 3.28 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar cheese decreased by 1.1% to 220.4 rubles (about 2.98 euros)/kg, the price of skim milk powder increased by 5.5% to 157.9 rubles (about 2.14 euros)/kg. The price of whey powder decreased by 3.5% to 44.1 rubles (about 0.60 euros)/kg.
The import price of a pair of skim milk powder + butter has increased by 1.05% to 32.67 rubles (about 0.44 euros)/kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey has decreased by 1.07% to 24.86 rubles (about 0.34 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder remained at the level of 22.94 rubles (about 0.31 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
