Dairy plants ask for milk
Dairy plants asked Russian Dairy Union to arrange cream and condensed milk supplies from Belorussia.
In March Belorussian Minister of Agriculture and Food Leonid Zayats and representatives of Russian Dairy Union (RSPMO) met to discuss three aspects of cooperation: supplies from Belarus to Russia, issues of Customs Union dairy sector’s technical regulations and general questions of strategic cooperation. The DairyNews did not manage to find out names of companies in want of Belorussian raw materials. According to market participants, it is referred first of all to milk-canning plants.
Cream and condensed milk supplies from Belorussia are unlikely to change seriously Russian dairy raw materials market, because the market perceives this measure as a temporary one.
According to Aleksandr Nikitin, Group of Companies Alantal Chairman, there is a certain condensed milk and cream deficiency on the Russian market, but Belorussian products are too expensive. The expert considers this measure to be a political PR.
