Danone has invested 300 million rubles in the treatment facilities of the plant in Kazan

The dairy plant Edelweiss is one of the strategically important plants of the company, producing about 180 tons of dairy products per day. The capacities of the new treatment facilities allow to purify the entire volume of generated wastewater, providing adequate quality water at the outlet, thanks to a modern 4-stage purification system that includes two phases of chemical purification, as well as mechanical and biological.

Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Akhmetov stressed: ‘Every ruble invested in the economy of Tatarstan works for the benefit of the residents of the republic. This is the main thing that you need to understand about Danone's investments. The Edelweiss plant is a unique enterprise, they are constantly working on improving technologies here. The construction of sewage treatment plants is a logical and important stage of this strategy.’

Taking care of the environment is one of Danone's priorities in Russia, and in recent years, the company has consistently implemented a plan to introduce local treatment facilities at its enterprises. In total, more than 2 billion rubles have already been invested in the program.

According to Marina Dmitrieva, Industrial Director of JSC Danone Russia, the company has proved that the issues of sustainable development are not just beautiful words for it: ‘We are ready to invest in the environmental safety of the region where we work, as much as is required. We are grateful for the assistance in the implementation of the project to the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Mayor's Office of Kazan. Now, with the commissioning of local treatment facilities, our Kazan plant has received a new impetus for development.’
