Sverdlovsk Region authorities accused Danone of unsafe ingredients in the company’s products. The Regional Public Chamber addressed Rospotrebnadzor with a request to mark Danone cream yogurts and yogurts as prohibited for children under 3 years as they contain harmful food additives.Danone insists its products are safe and are produced according to the law.
Market experts believe,Danone is unlikely to have troubles as the accusation is too baseless. The Chamber checked and found “unsafe additives” in a dairy product “Rastishka”, which has a mark “For children aged 3 and older”. One of the most probable reasons of this incident became competition. Market giants, Danoneand PepsiCo, have to compete with local milk processors. OlesyaLeontyeva, Danone press-service representative, believes this story will not have any continuation as far as the accusation have nothing in common with current legislation.
