DIA Dairy Index has risen to 25.91 (about 0.35 euros)/kg
According to the application Index DIA the weighted average price of milk in Russia last week increased by 0.3% to 24.6 rubles (about 0.34 euros)/kg, which is 15.44% higher than the price in early September in 2018. The growth of prices for raw milk was observed in Kostroma, Leningrad and Krasnodar regions. Prices for raw milk decreased in Vladimir, Kaluga and Altai regions.

The import price index increased by 1.1% compared to last week to 29.75 rubles (about 0.41 euros)/kg, compared to September 2018, the growth of the index was 0.8%. The increase in the import price was caused by the weakening of the ruble and rising prices for exchange-traded dairy products. At auction of BUCE the price of skim milk powder increased by 0.6% to 160.9 rubles (about 2.20 euros)/kg. At auction of Trigona Dairy Trade last week the price of butter increased, the price of whey powder declined, the prices of other exchange-traded dairy products remained at the level of the last auction. The price of butter, taking into account the weakening of the ruble grew by 4.5% to 258.8 rubles (about 3.54 euros)/kg, the price of cheddar increased by 1.5% to of 221.8 (about 3.03 euros)/kg, the price of skim milk powder increased to 159 rubles (about 2.17 euros)/kg. The price of dry whey decreased by 2.7% to 42.5 rubles (about 0.58 rubles)/kg.
The import price of a pair of skim milk powder + butter increased by 095% to 35.17 rubles (about 0.48 euros)/ kg (1 kg in terms of milk). The import price of a pair of cheese + whey decreased by 1.4% to 24.44 rubles (about 0.33 euros)/kg. The price of whole milk powder remained at the level of 22.95 rubles (about 0.31 euros)/kg.

Dairy Index DIA
Dairy Index DIA is calculated based on two key indicators, the weighted average price of milk in the Russian regions and the Index of import price. To calculate the weighted average price, the Center developed and launched a crowdsourcing application Index DIA, which allows accumulating current data on the prices of raw milk in the Russian regions from direct market participants, producers and processors of milk. The Index of import price is determined based on the prices of key exchange dairy products – skim milk powder, whole milk powder, butter, cheese and whey powder. The prices of imported dairy products are based on the prices of dairy products of the Belarusian universal commodity exchange (BUCE) and the prices at the sites of Trigona Dairy Trade and GlobalDairyTrade.
