DIA: in the first half of 2021, the import of Belarusian cheeses to Russia amounted to 144 thousand tons
According to the analysis provided to the agency, in June 2021, the import of Belarusian cheeses decreased by 14.8% compared to May 2020. However, it was still higher than in June 2020, when there was an increase of 6.3%.
‘Perhaps, the situation with labeling influenced the June deliveries,’ reported Dairy Intelligence Agency (DIA). ‘Cheese production has been growing at a very good pace in Russia in recent years. The market is provided with cheeses and cheese products, if not overstocked. Therefore, the volume of imports of Belarusian cheeses will primarily depend on prices, since cheaper products will be bought and sold on the Russian market.
Regarding the GDT auction, Dairy Intelligence Agency (DIA) replied that the downward trend (the GDT index has been declining since April-May 2021) was overestimated by analysts. Demand from China was stable, and there was no sharp increase in supply either.
‘Taking into account a very hot July of 2021, there may be a decrease in milk production, which in principle should raise the price,’ summed up the comment in DIA.
