Dmitry Matveev: Russia is able to fully provide itself with dairy products
"Even if we theoretically assume that there will be no deliveries to Russia, we will easily find other countries that will supply the same products here. Russia is generally able to fully provide itself with dairy products, the only issue is the price. The fact is that the price at which Belarus supplies cheeses is lower, because their economy is subsidized by Russia, and agriculture is actively subsidized there due to these subsidies. Therefore, everything goes here at low prices", Dmitry Matveev said.
The expert added that if the Russian state subsidized the economy of agriculture in Russia in this way, the prices of products would be identical.
According to the Dairy Intelligence Agency, over the past six years in Russia, a trend has been established for the growth of milk production in peasant farm holdings and agricultural enterprises. This year, the overall increase is projected at the level of 800-900 thousand tons compared to last year.
