Dmitry Rylko: the impact of COVID-19 on agro-industrial markets is coming to an end
"There are groups of agricultural products where the impact of COVID-19 was minimal. Prices have decreased sharply, primarily for greenhouse vegetables - by several tens of percent. Largely because people rushed to buy citrus fruits, onions, and garlic. Their prices rose by tens of percent in a short time. Consumers forgot about cucumbers and tomatoes for a while, and besides, the lack of work of catering enterprises had a serious impact on the situation. Now the situation is more or less normalized", Dmitry Rylko said.
In addition, the expert noted that prices for pork and poultry have significantly decreased. The closing of public catering outlets, as well as a reduction in the population's income, also played a role in this decline.
"There is also a group of products whose prices have significantly increased for direct or indirect reasons. First of all, these are lemons, onions, and garlic. In addition, as a result of the fall in oil prices and the subsequent devaluation, prices for all products related to Russian exports rose. These are cereals, pastry products, vegetable oils, raw materials related to the production of vegetable oil", said the head of ICAR.
