Domestic grain consumption in Russia is about 78-79 million tons
- This figure includes losses, - said the expert. - Food consumption accounts for about half of these 78-79 million tons, and the same amount is meant for feed consumption, for livestock. Moreover, the feed consumption is now growing because animal husbandry is rising, in spite of everything.
It should be reminded that in late August, the Ministry of agriculture increased the forecast of grain yield in Russia in 2018 to 100-105 million tons. Earlier the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation suggested that the grain yield in Russia in 2018 will be in the range of 100 million tons. The wheat yield is expected at the level of 64.4 million tons. In 2017 Russia received a record harvest in its history-135.4 million tons in net weight, including 85.9 million tons of wheat.
The Head of the Center for economic forecasting of Gazprombank Daria Snitko, in turn, noted in a comment to the Agro-Investor that the gross grain harvest this year may be at the level of 110 million tons — that is, 20% less than in 2017. In addition, during the last week of August, the Institute for agricultural market studies lowered the forecast of the grain yield to 110 million tons.
