Dzhambulat Khatuov: introduction of obligatory EVC is strategically important for the promotion of our agricultural products on the world market

On May 28, the first Deputy Minister of agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Khatuov held a meeting with the regions on the issue of readiness for the introduction of obligatory electronic veterinary certification (EVC) since July 1, 2018, writes The DairyNews with reference to the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation.
The first Deputy Head of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia reminded that under the conditions of significant growth of milk production in the country and strategic plans for a multiple increase in exports, the issues of restoring order in the dairy market and the protection of agricultural producers come to the fore.
"At the All-Russian forum of agricultural producers in Krasnodar President Vladimir Putin warned that the inefficiency of the existing veterinary system could be an obstacle to the process of increasing exports. We are at the threshold of creating a unified veterinary service and expanding the power of Rosselkhoznadzor. Restoring order in the dairy market and the introduction of the obligatory system of electronic veterinary certification is inevitable. To take a wait – and - see position is unacceptable in this respect," Dzhambulat Khatuov said.
The heads of the regional authorities of the agro-industrial complex reported on the activities carried out to notify the dairy producers.
The participants of the meeting assessed the degree of involvement of economic entities and regional veterinary services in the preparation process for EVC.
Special attention was paid to work with small businesses, smallholders and retail chains, whose readiness for obligatory electronic veterinary certification raises the greatest number of questions.
Dzhambulat Khatuov recommended the regional authorities of the agro-industrial complex to intensify work on the preparation of the transition to EVC, noting that the working group of the Ministry of agriculture is ready to provide systemic support to regions experiencing difficulties with full coverage of milk producers.
