EEC Commissioner in Charge of Industry and Agriculture discussed cooperation in agrarian sector with New Zealand Minister of Trade
Member of the EEC Board, the Commissioner in charge of Industry and Agriculture, Sergey Sidorskiy, recently met with Tim Groser, New Zealand Minister of Trade, and NZ Ambassador Hamish Cooper. The NZ representatives expressed readiness to cooperate with CU countries in agricultural sphere. NZ companies’ experience (e.g. Fonterra) in product distribution allows the country to come to the emerging dairy markets in South-East Asia. Joint strategy could be implemented in Belarus, one of the dairy market leaders but with insufficient diversification of distribution channel. Segrey Sidorskiy noted that possible ways of liberalization of CU market access as well as investment cooperation were discussed with Fonterra CEO Theo Spierings before. He also assured that he is ready to assist New Zealand business representatives in cooperation with CU countries’ companies. Tim Groser plans to arrange a visit of NZ big companies to Russian Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
