Egypt-Uruguay: which country is leading in milk production?
To date, milk consumption in Egypt is 97.8 kg per capita per year. This is small compared to Uruguay, where the figure reaches 318 kg, but in 2010 the consumption of milk and dairy products in Egypt was only 22 liters. In the 60s of the last century, this figure did not exceed 2-3 liters per year. Despite this, the Egyptian agro-industrial complex supports not only the development of dairy cattle farming, but also the production of camel milk, sheep and goat milk.
Uruguay, with a population of only 3 million people, produced about 2.15 million tons of milk in 2017. In Egypt, where the population exceeds 92 million people, milk production amounted to 7.2 million tons last year.
Milk production per capita in Egypt is 76 kg, in Uruguay it makes 624 kg per year. Uruguay is one of the key exporters of dairy products to Russia after Belarus, New Zealand and Argentina. Uruguay supplies dairy products to more than 50 countries, covering the needs of the domestic market. According to the Russian Dairy Research Center (RDRC), the number of cows in Egypt was 4.5 million heads in 2017. The average milk yield per cow did not exceed 1590 kg. In Uruguay the milk yield per cow is 4760 kg with 452 thousand of dairy cows.
It is also known from open sources that the consumption of liquid milk per capita in Uruguay is 63.5 kg, cheese - 8.7 kg, butter - 1.4 kg.
We will remind that the day before there was held the match between Russia and Saudi Arabia, where the host country of the World Cup won with the score 5:0.
